Two classic automobiles in Payson for the classic car show were vandalized over the event's weekend.

A green 1968 Chevy Camaro and a white 1957 Chevy sedan parked at a local hotel, were keyed sometime Saturday night or Sunday morning.

Payson Police Commander Don Engler said the estimated damage was about $2,000 for both vehicles.

"It looked like someone scratched the side of the cars using a key or some sharp item," Engler said.

The owners of the vandalized vehicles are from Tempe and California.

The Rim Country Classic Auto Club is offering a $500 reward for the arrest and conviction of the vandals.

"It's just a sad situation when something like that happens to one of our guests," car show coordinator Norm Atkin said.

Engler said they have no suspects at this time, but are continuing the investigation.

Anyone with information is requested to call Payson Police Officer Joni Varga at (928) 474-5177.
