Irma Mae (Strobbe) Lynn of Payson, died May 14, 2005. She was born Aug. 17, 1935 in Parkville, Mo.
Her family moved to Montana, where she met and married her childhood sweetheart, Dave Lynn. The first four years of their marriage was spent living at various military bases while Dave served in the U.S. Air Force. They settled in Billings, Mont., where Mrs. Lynn's main job was raising their four children.
Later, the Lynns moved to Madras, Ore., where she opened her own ceramic studio, D & I Ceramics. Mrs. Lynn became an accomplished painter, decorating wooden boxes, antique cross-cut saws, and other items with her artwork. Recently, she donated one of her painted saws to the Payson Elks Club for a charity auction.
After her husband's retirement from US West telephone company, the couple began traveling by camper trailer throughout the Western United States each winter. Casa Grande became their winter home until two years ago when they moved to Payson full time. Since then, they enjoyed setting up their new home, planting shrubs and flowers, and watching the hummingbirds from their back patio.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Lynn's uncompromising devotion was to her family.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, David Harold Lynn of Payson; three sons, Bill Lynn of Billings, Mont., Steve (Amy) Lynn of Silverton, Ore., and Roger (Kathie) Lynn of Madras, Ore.; daughter, Peggy Lynn of West Yellowstone, Mont.; two sisters, Pat (Jon) Yeager of Dillon, Mont., and Doris of Mont.; two brothers, Chuck and Bill (Peggy) of Mont.; three grandchildren, Matt and Molly of Silverton, Ore., and Kelsie of Madras, Ore.; and beloved canine companion, Hewie.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jim.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 18 at Messinger Payson Funeral Home, 302 W. Aero Drive in Payson.
