The following events are planned for Thursday, May 19 through Sunday, May 22 in conjunction with the 2005 Gary Hardt Memorial Spring PRCA Rodeo:

Thursday, May 19

  • 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Clydesdales at Bashas'.
  • 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., Clydesdales at Safeway .
  • 5 p.m. - Women's Professional Rodeo Association Cactus Series Barrel Race. Books open for entries at 5 p.m., performance starts at 6 p.m. Free admission with a can of food to benefit food bank.

Friday, May 20

  • 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. - Miss Rodeo Arizona Pageant horsemanship contest, Payson Event Center.
  • 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. - Miss Rodeo Arizona Pageant contestants in personal appearance at Corral West in the Payson Village Shopping Center.
  • 4 p.m. - Gates open, Payson Event Center Rodeo Grounds.
  • 6:30 p.m. - Doors open at Tonto Apache Tribal Activity Center for first round of Miss Rodeo Arizona Pageant competition.
  • 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Clydesdales at Payson Event Center performance.
  • 7 p.m. - Rodeo performance, Payson Event Center Rodeo Grounds. Entry fees - $12 adults; $10 seniors; $8 children, ages 8-12; children 7 and under, free.
  • 7:15 p.m. to 9 p.m. - Miss Rodeo Arizona Pageant informal modeling; introduction speech; and extemporaneous questions. Admission is $13 at the door.
  • 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Clydesdales at Mazatzal Casino.

Saturday, May 21

  • 9 a.m. - Sixth Annual Main Event Rodeo Parade, West Main Street, starts at Green Valley Park and concludes at Colcord Road. Reigning Miss Rodeo Arizona Tamara Clause and visiting rodeo royalty in rodeo parade.
  • 10:30 a.m. - Doors open at TAT Activity Center for fashion show and more.
  • 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. - Fashion show; state speech; and silent auction. Admission is $13 at the door, or call Tanya McKinley, (602) 481-8190.
  • 4 p.m. - Gates open, Payson Event Center Rodeo Grounds.
  • 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Clydesdales at Payson Event Center performance.
  • 7 p.m. - Rodeo performance, Payson Event Center Rodeo Grounds. Entry fees - $12 adults; $10 seniors; $8 children, ages 8-12; children 7 and under, free.
  • 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Clydesdales at Mazatzal Casino.

Sunday, May 22

  • 9 a.m. - Coronation Continental Breakfast, TAT Activity Center. Admission $15 at the door, or call Tanya McKinley, (602) 481-8190.
  • 9:30 a.m. - Coronation, presentation of awards and scholarships. Crowning of 2005 Miss Rodeo Arizona.
  • 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Clydesdales at Wal-Mart.

This time of year, the weather is changeable, so be prepared. Wear sun protection, but have a light jacket handy in the event of wind or rain.

Bring a lawn chair for the parade.

Plan on having a great time.
