Firefighters contained the Bart Fire Thursday, a day earlier than anticipated.
The blaze topped out at 14,534 acres, including the 1,920-acre St. Clair Fire. At its peak, the fire occupied the attention of 359 personnel.
The Bart Fire broke out Sunday afternoon between Horseshoe and Bartlett lakes 10 miles east of Carefree. Investigators said the fire was caused by humans, but wouldn't release further details.
The road to Bartlett Lake, closed since Monday, reopened Thursday morning, but the public is asked to stay out of the burned area.
Fire restrictions remain in effect in the Tonto National Forest. Building or maintaining a fire, campfire or charcoal fire is prohibited. Smoking is restricted to established campgrounds or within a closed vehicle or building.
