Two memorial events are schedued for Sunday in the Payson area.
These moving ceremonies provide an opportunity to share the principles of patriotism with friends and loved ones.
In addition to honoring the war dead, the ceremonies are also designed to pay tribute to surviving veterans and the members of today's armed forces throughout the world.
Sunday, May 29, Memorial Day services will be held at Payson Pioneer Cemetery at 9 a.m., followed by a tribute at Mountain Meadows Memorial Park at 10 a.m.
The program at Payson Pioneer Cemetery is organized by Anna Mae Deming, who will give the opening remarks. Her comments will be followed by a flag-raising ceremony, guest speakers, music and prayers.
"Please attend and honor our friends' and loved ones' graves," Deming said. "We invite everyone to participate."
The staff or the Messinger Payson Funeral Home is coordinating the ceremonies at Mountain Meadows Memorial Park. The activities will include a flag raising ceremony by the Civil Air Patrol Cadets, remarks from Payson Mayor Barbara Brewer and retired Maj. Philip Prince, plus a medley of patriotic hymns.
The official town program is Monday, May 30.
