Life Care Centers of America's Southwest Division recently recognized outstanding associates from its Mesquite Region, which includes eight facilities across Arizona.
"We feel so privileged to have considerate, caring and compassionate individuals working for our residents at Payson Care Center, said executive director Sheila Wiggins. "They truly exemplify the ‘Whatever It Takes and Then Some' attitude with their actions every day. We are excited by the opportunity to honor them for these special achievements and their role in the lives of our residents."
Associates from the Mesquite Region gathered Oct. 26 for an awards banquet at Pointe South Mountain Resort.
In addition to Payson Care Center, facilities from Glendale, Globe, Prescott, North Glendale, Phoenix, Peoria and Yuma were represented at the event. Each facility in the region recognized four associates; three awards honored outstanding certified nursing assistants (CNAs), and one award lauded the associate who best demonstrated team spirit. From these facility winners, one regional CNA award winner and one regional team spirit winner were announced at the banquet.
Local associates nominated included Jeanie Bland, Barbara Olsen and Debbie McCurdy for the CNA of the Year Award. They were nominated for the compassion and kindness they show Payson Care Center's residents.
Carol Moody, activities director, was nominated for the Team Spirit Award. Each year, she makes sure residents have appropriate winter clothing for the cold weather. Moody also has coordinated several memorial services and recently coordinated a successful wedding anniversary party for two of Payson Care Center's residents. Moody was awarded by Life Care with the Regional Team Spirit Award.
"Working with the elderly has been one of the greatest joys of my life," said Moody. "They're all my parents, and I love my parents."
Payson Care Center is one of 18 facilities in Arizona operated by Life Care Centers of America.
