Justin Schlosser, 10, enjoyed the thrill of a lifetime while deer hunting Oct. 21 in Unit 23 near Young.
The youngster, who was on his first hunting trip, downed a 2x2 mule buck with a single shot from his .270 rifle.
The shot was from about 200 yards away.
"He was thrilled," family friend Michelle Shannon said.
Young Schlosser was hunting with Michelle's husband, Jim Shannon, and the boy's father, Luke Schlosser.
Justin Schlosser could be one of the youngest hunters to ever down a big game animal.
He's just three months older than the 10-year minimum age requirement to participate in a youth hunt and had just completed the required hunter safety education class.
In the classes, junior hunters are taught survival, habitat, game management, wildlife identification, first aid and gun safety.
