Heber-Overgaard Hosts Tourism Program

Heber-Overgaard will be the host site for an Arizona Office of Tourism (AOT) workshop Nov. 17 at the Bison Ranch Retreat Center.

The AOT program is designed to benefit all of Arizona's communities by educating and answering questions on tourism-related issues.

This year, the workshop will include two guest speakers addressing tourism topics that are relevant to Heber-Overgaard and north central Arizona.

Cindy Winkelman, former marketing director for the Greater Phoenix Convention and Visitors Bureau, will discuss ways to partner with local and regional tourism businesses and attractions, destination marketing organizations, cultural offerings and related tourism and hospitality entities to develop marketing opportunities for destinations in the area.

Char Beltran, president and chief executive officer of the Sedona Oak Creek Chamber of Commerce, will offer insights about marketing best practices.

The regional workshop is free and will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. A complimentary networking continental breakfast and a complimentary lunch are included.

Participants will receive a reference guide to use as a resource in developing their marketing plans and tourism development initiatives.

"Heber-Overgaard is proud to host an AOT on the Road workshop, and we welcome those from other towns into our small community," said Lisa Kriley, president of the Heber-Overgaard Chamber of Commerce. "The assistance and continued support of AOT is helping our community transition from a wide spot in the highway to a true tourist destination."

The workshop also includes roundtable meetings with staff from AOT's advertising, research, travel industry marketing, media relations and tourism development divisions.

"Community Outreach is a day full of education, valuable information and networking opportunities that no one in the tourism industry can afford to miss," said AOT Director Margie A. Emmermann.

"AOT is pleased to present this updated workshop program and looks forward to educating Heber-Overgaard and all north central Arizona communities on how to use AOT's resources and partnership opportunities to develop their own tourism marketing programs."
