'Tis the season for fake trees, and the town of Payson is no exception. This "pine" tree located behind the water department building at Town Hall was installed by Verizon Wireless.
"It's called a mono-pine," reports Public Works Engineer La Ron Garrett.
"Essentially it's a mono-pole tower dressed up to look like a pine tree.
"It's the new Verizon cell site and I believe they'll lease space out to other carriers.
The town requested it be camouflaged in some manner and that's what we ended up with. It doesn't look too bad if you don't think about it too close or don't look too close.
"I think they did a pretty good job on it."
