Community Filled With Christmas Parties

Volunteers are needed at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19 to help decorate Christopher Creek Loop for the holidays. Volunteers will meet at the fire station.

Everyone will be treated to a delicious chili lunch around noon, get to meet neighbors and perform a valuable community service. New decorations are always welcome, as is anyone who can help.

Devon Cheney, 13, of Colcord Estates, bagged his first elk on his very first hunt Oct. 22. He was pretty excited about this, as was his grandfather, Fred Cheney.

The plan is to turn on the holiday lights the evening of Thanksgiving.

The Christopher Kohl's Fire Department and Fire Belles annual Christmas party and potluck is at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at the fire station in Christopher Creek. It is a potluck. Please bring a dish to share and a $10 gift for each person you bring. Expect surprises with the gift exchange.

To better organize the potluck, the committee would appreciate a telephone call to let them know what dish you plan to bring. Call Vicki Grootegoed at (928) 478-4654.

The children's Christmas party is at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17. All community children and grandchildren, ages 12 and under, are encouraged to attend. Children should bring two canned goods or nonperishable food items. The youngsters will decorate and fill food boxes for local families. Santa will visit the party at 2 p.m. There will be a holiday stocking for each child. Telephone Karen Thorton, (928) 478-4133, or Judy Toole, (928) 478-0508, with the names and ages of participating children.

Later that evening, residents are invited to join the Rim Valley Church of God youth group for Christmas caroling around Christopher Creek. Carolers are to meet at the fire station at 6 p.m. Dress warmly and bring a flashlight. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served at the fire station after the caroling.
