James Raymond (Ray) Barber, 71, of Phoenix, and formerly of the Pine area, died as the result of a truck accident Nov. 17, 2005. He was born Jan. 9, 1934 in Centerville, Utah, the son of John Raymond and Mildred Rogers Barber.
Mr. Barber was married in 1952 to Karen Wiscombe in the Salt Lake Temple in Utah.
He was the owner of West End Trucking, South Mountain Truck Salvage and AZ Wholesale Fuelwood.
He started his own trucking company at age 18 and worked until the day of his death.
He is survived by his wife, Karen of Riverton, Utah; six children, Jolene Barber of Seattle, Wash., Wendi Jone of Woodland, Utah, Bret Barber of Gila Bend, Kelly Barber of Kimball, S.D., Lori Guest of Riverton, Utah and Jeffrey Barber of Buckeye; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Phillip Barber of Farmington, Utah; and sisters, Norma Swensen of St. George, Utah, Lois Hansen of Willard, Utah, Cloette Small of Willamette, Wash. and Shirley Larsen of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Albert; and son, Rodney Dean Barber.
Funeral services were held Nov. 23 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Buckeye.
