The Bears whipped the Bagdad Razorbacks 20-6 to stake claim to third place in the Mighty Mites division.

The Broncos dropped an 18-8 decision to the Camp Verde Rattlers in the Minors Division.

In the Bears' victory, Dailey Carnes scored touchdowns on runs of 50, 65 and 81 yards.

Team spokesman and coach John Harris cited Dalton Conway for his standout play on defense.

"He had a season-best performance as he led the team in tackles," said Harris. "Credit also goes to all the young men who did well as they worked together to become a unified team.

"Thanks to the young men for being leaders at a young age and representing Payson so well."

Harris said Bears' coaches heard praise from fans and opposing coaches for the effort, fair play and good sportsmanship of the Payson players all season long.

Bears team members who will move up an age division next season include Chans Belcher, Layne Chiltwood, Benny Rodriguez, Zack Holck and Carnes.
