Tonto Village Man Dies Following Atv Accident

A part-time resident of Tonto Village III died following an ATV accident north of Tonto Village.

A passing motorist found Wade W. Reed, 50, of Queen Creek, lying on Forest Service Road 64 at Forest Service Road 65, according to a report from the Gila County Sheriff's Office. A quad was found near the man, with the engine still running.

The Tonto Village Fire Department sent personnel to the scene. They determined the man was alive, but unconscious. Native Air was dispatched and transported Reed to Banner Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix. He reportedly regained consciousness, but died at approximately 2:20 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28.

The GCSO was notified of the accident at approximately 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 27. It appears only one vehicle was involved. It rolled at least one time and the GCSO report states speed appears to have been a contributing factor. There are no witnesses, but the sheriff's office is continuing to investigate.
