The Rim Country has been inundated by smoke from prescribed burns this week.
Major burns in the area include:
- A 400-acre burn being conducted by the Coconino National Forest in the Pocket/Baker project area near highways 87 and 260.
- The Coconino is also burning 400 acres in the Bald Mesa project area near Clint's Well.
- Farther north, a 150-acre burn by the Coconino is under way in the Lake Mary project area.
- The Payson Ranger District began a 100-acre burn three miles east of Whispering Pines and the Control Road on Thursday.
