The two young adults injured in an ATV accident on Granite Dells Road last week remain hospitalized in the Valley.

Lynda R. Stewart has a head injury and broken back, but is stable. She is now in rehabilitation at St. Luke's, said Pamela Zoe, the mother of the other victim, Anthony Puskaric, and Stewart's supervisor at the Payson KFC restaurant.

Puskaric is in critical condition at Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital.

"He has brain, head, neck and back injuries," Zoe said. "He also has a collapsed lung, a broken arm and elbow. He is fighting pneumonia right now, but his doctors are optimistic, and so are we."

Benefit funds have been established to help both young people and their families meet medical expenses and other needs. The fund for Lynda R. Stewart is at Compass Bank; the fund for Anthony Puskaric is at Wells Fargo.

"Lynda and Tony have known each other since the seventh grade and started dating just a few months ago," Zoe said.

The couple went off an embankment around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6.
