A headline on the front page of the Tuesday, Oct. 18 edition of the Roundup read, "Town Council cancels water referendum."

While the story that followed accurately depicted the fact that the council did not take a formal vote on the issue, the headline may have been misleading.

An attorney hired by the town told the council it had no choice but to not hold the referendum for the reasons detailed in the story. The council, therefore, did not vote to cancel the referendum, as the headline may have implied, but simply adjourned.
