Rim Country citizens joined with staff and residents of Time Out, Inc. -- the local shelter for victims of domestic violence -- for the annual Candlelight Walk and Vigil.
With a police escort, the walk began at town hall and made its way to Mountain Bible Church for a short program, refreshments and distribution of educational materials regarding awareness of family violence and child abuse.
Pastor Todd Arnold of Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church provided a prayer for the group at the beginning of the walk; Associate Pastor Donovan Christian of Mountain Bible Church offered a prayer for the program.
About 60 people joined in the memorial service for victims of domestic violence.
Candles were lighted for all victims in Arizona. From January through August of this year, the total is 43. Victims range in age from newborn to 77 years.
