A Payson physician and his wife were injured when their vehicle was hit at the intersection of Beeline and Bush highways.

Allen Michels and his wife, Margaret sustained vision and back-related injuries Sept. 5 at 6:30 p.m. after a vehicle exiting from Bush Highway failed to yield at a stop sign and clipped the Michels' vehicle.

Sgt. Dennis Isaacson with the Department of Public Safety said the Michelses' young children and the two 19-year-olds in the suspect vehicle escaped the wreck unharmed.

"The accident is under investigation for alcohol involvement," Isaacson said.

Michels required a C.A.T. scan for vision problems, the officer said. A spokesperson at Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn said the doctor was well enough to visit his wife, who reportedly had back injuries.

Margaret is in good condition, according to another hospital spokesperson.

The accident happened in the same intersection where three members of Payson's Goddard family were killed in late July.
