Ellen Cook, 86, died Sept. 18, 2005. She was born Dec. 29, 1918 in Sistersville, W.Va. She moved with her family to Gnadenhutten, Ohio at the age of 3. It was there that she began raising a family of her own, later moving to Thompson, Ohio.
While living in Thompson, she maintained a ceramic studio in her home, where she taught ceramic arts. She sold many of her pieces at various shows throughout Ohio. Cook was a member of the Rebecca Lodge and the Thompson Garden Club.
In her later years, she moved to Mesa, eventually relocating to Payson, where she married John Cook. They were members of the Payson United Methodist Church and were baptized there together in 2004.
Mrs. Cook is survived by her husband, John; brother, Ora Baker Jr. of Wilmington, N.C.; son, James (Rita) Hines of Mesa; daughter Judy (Bob) Rexrode of Roaming Shores, Ohio and Phoenix; son Terry (Bev) Hines of Maryville, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and many good friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ora and Clara Baker, and brother, Estel Baker.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 27 at the Payson United Methodist Church, 414 N. Easy St.
