A bilingual organizational skills class is being hosted at the Parent Resource Center, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28.
This class is a chance for parents to look at time management and their own organizational styles. Parents will learn strategies on how to determine priorities and stay motivated.
"When a person is organized, it reduces stress and conflict and allows the family to improve their relationship and work as a team," said Christy Walton, parent community liaison at PRC.
PRC's decor was purposely made homey so people would feel comfortable in group and one-on-one discussions.
"I come from a background where I did not have really good parenting skills introduced to me," said Christine Chapman, mother and child-care provider. "It has been really nice to talk with other parents and get other input and avenues I can take," she said.
Suzanne Stevens said the parenting classes helped her tremendously when she felt her 9-year-old son was ruling the home.
"I have learned to set boundaries and follow through with discipline," Stevens said. "Now my son and I have more respect for each other."
Tina Swearingen, Parent Information Specialist for Gila, Pinal and La Paz counties, is the instructor for the Sept. 28 class.
Another 14 classes with topics are scheduled throughout the school year.
