Russell Walton Blair of Bend, Ore. died Sept. 19, 2005 of complications from diabetes. He was 54. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church in Bend.
He was born May 31, 1951, in Denver to Robert and Alpha Blair. He attended one year of college and earned NCAC Counselor II certification. He married Marcia McCarthy on July 15, 1978, in Bend.
Mr. Blair worked as a drug and alcohol counselor and started a halfway house for recovering alcoholics. He also ran a van and boat makeover business, worked as a landscaper, owned a pet shop and worked as a ski instructor at Mt. Bachelor and Hoodoo. He was a member of the Chevy Club of Central Oregon and Trinity Episcopal Church. He was a past Scoutmaster and Elks Club member. He enjoyed fishing and the Denver Broncos.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Peter McCarthy of Waldport; his mother, Alpha Blair of Payson; a brother, Robert of Germantown, Md.; a sister, Pamela Collins of Payson; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation or the Humane Society.
