Students Learning About Civic Participation

Editor:

I am writing to you as part of an assignment in social studies civics class. We are required to learn about government, politics and how to be a responsible citizen. We've been reading the local and state newspapers, watching the news on television, and mostly paying attention to what is happening in the world around us.

I live in Diamond Point and, after seeing, hearing and going to a meeting about taking our well water and other issues going on around town, I wonder why the town of Payson makes it so hard to understand the plain facts on things and why they seem so hostile to the citizens around here.

Anyway, it makes me feel relieved and good that there are so many other good people in the world with charity and honest intentions willing to sacrifice to help out with other disasters like Katrina.
