Powell House Offers Assisted Living In A Home-Like Setting

Payson's Powell House, a licensed assisted-living facility, offers senior citizens and disabled adults an option that combines both care and independence.

Residents of Powell House live in a home-like setting in studio or one-bedroom apartments. Residents may choose the level of care they need.

The exterior of the Powell House on Longhorn is inviting for both residents and visitors.

The facility's staff of 20 is trained in cardio pulmonary resuscitation and first aid, and can provide supervisory care, directed care or personal care, depending on the level of service required.

"Powell House is now owned by Assisted Living Concepts/ Extended Care out of Milwaukee, Wis.," said Doreen Mandel, director of Powell House. The affiliation connects the Payson operation with more than 200 other facilities throughout the country, providing either skilled nursing or assisted living services.

The new owners have made no significant changes in the way the Powell House is run, Mandel said.

Amenities of Powell House include activities planned around the client's interests, such as music, crafts, cooking and exercise. It also has an enclosed courtyard; a fireplace; a whirlpool bath; and access to transportation. Small, well-trained pets are welcome, Mandel said.

Powell House is currently at capacity, but has a waiting list, which is open for reservations. For more information, call (928) 474-6249.
