Majestic Rim, A Samaritan Community, is a 76,000-square-foot facility on East Tyler Parkway. Construction began in the spring of 2005.
The 50-unit facility is for residents who need just a bit of assistance in their daily lives.
Half of the units have already been reserved at Majestic Rim.
"There has been a very positive response from the community," said Robert Lafler, marketing director.
"A lot of people have expressed that there has been a great need for something to fill the gap between living totally independently and to have assisted living services -- they wanted something in between to help them with things that they don't want to do anymore like housekeeping," Lafler said
Common areas will include a multi-purpose room a beauty salon/barber shop, a coffee parlor area, a gracious dining area with a private dining area that may be reserved and a beautiful courtyard area. Garages and carports are optional.
"We bridge the gap for people who feel overwhelmed at home," Lafler said. "We are even providing one meal a day, so they won't have to do as much cooking."
Besides a general manager, staff will include meal presenters, a maintenance person, housekeeping personnel and a driver for the mini-bus to take residents grocery shopping.
No medical personnel will be on site, but there will be an attendant system in each unit that can summon local paramedics in the event of an emergency.
Majestic Rim is due to open in June of 2006.
