James Rappe, 88, of Pine, died April 3, 2006 in Payson. He was born Oct. 12, 1917 in Taylorville, Ill.
Mr. Rappe moved to Phoenix in 1948, after serving in World War II. He became a successful Allstate Insurance agent. On retirement in 1980, he took up full-time residence in Pine.
He is survived by his wife, Clarisse of Pine; daughters: Patricia and husband Loren Barnes of Phoenix; Sally and husband Norman Barnhard of Escondido, Calif.; and Brenda and husband Robert Brady of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; brothers: Duane, Dwight, Wendell and Bernard of Ill.; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one step-daughter, Deborah and husband Wayne Stewart of Phoenix; four step-grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Bernice Backer Rappe, who died in 1993.
Funeral services were held April 6 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, with interment following in Paradise Memorial Gardens in Scottsdale.
