Kyle Dowler

Since joining the Marines in May 2005, Kyle Dowler prefers to go by his new name, PFC Dowler.

Dowler attended boot camp at Parris Island, S.C. where he performed at the highest levels.

Dowler performed like a sniper on the Marine rifle range, receiving the highest badge of honor -- that of Expert.

He is currently in Charleston, S.C. working as a land support specialist in the Marine Corps Reserves, but he has decided to go full time and is awaiting orders.

Dowler's mother, Sandy Somsen, works at Payson High School.

Dowler has followed in family footsteps, as his grandfather and two uncles are also Marines.

Rodney L. Sandry

Army Pvt. Rodney L. Sandry has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

During his nine weeks of training, Sandry received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing the use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman. He is the son of JoAnn Perez of Platteville, Wis., and brother of Christina Perez of Payson.

Sandry is a 1998 graduate of Payson High School.
