A pair of Rim Country angling teams pocketed prize money for their efforts on the AllStar Bass Team Tournament circuit.
In a fray held April 8 at Roosevelt Lake, Levi Armstrong and Terry Wilbanks fished their way to third place and $650 in prize money.
John Browning and Robert O'Donnel teamed up for seventh place and $1,879. The two earned more prize money than several teams finishing ahead of them in the standings because they were entered in several "options" or side contests.
Armstrong and Wilbanks boated 15.96 pounds of bass that included a nice size 3.21 pounder. Browning and O'Donnel weighed in 14.60 pounds.
According to AllStar officials, popular fishing tactics included using Texas-rigged soft jerkbaits and lizards, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits in brush-filled water to depths of 20 feet near the Salt River arm.
Some anglers fished mainlake coves down to 10 feet using topwater poppers.
The eighth-place finishing team of Mark DiBrito and Chris Baldwin, both from the Valley, pocketed big fish prize money of $800 for a 7.10-pound largemouth.
The next AllStar Bass Team tournament is slated for May 6 at Roosevelt Lake.
