Ready for some real Western fun? Then put the Payson Pro Rodeo Annual Scholarship Fund Dance on your calendar. The event is at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 21 at Mazatzal Casino and features the music of Junction 87.

The dance is a fund-raiser for the Payson Pro Rodeo scholarship fund, said John Landino, vice president of the committee and event organizer.

It is also a glimpse of the fun that awaits at the Gary Hardt Memorial Rodeo May 19 and 20.

Admission for the evening of music and prizes is $5 per person. There will be door prizes, and silent auction items.

The Payson Pro Rodeo Committee puts on the spring and August rodeos, as a way to keep the Western way of life alive, said chairman Bill Armstrong.

"Without extra effort, that heritage could fade away," he added. "Besides putting on the rodeo, we help people. We provide scholarships and help the chorus and band programs, as well as the athletic program. We help kids in need."
