Dirk Maarten Leeuwrik, 72, died on April 16, 2006, at RTA Hospice House in Payson.
Mr. Leeuwrik was a specialist in plant genetics, who worked for the international organizations of Ford Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, Icarda and the World Bank.
His work took him around the world where he applied his knowledge to improve varieties of crops adapted to the climate, soil, and water conditions.
His life was dedicated to feeding mankind, especially those in the greatest need.
He is survived by his sisters, Elly and Hanneke; his four children: Gordon, Jim, Jennifer and Linda; and nine grandchildren.
