Whispering Pines Fire First With New Vehicle Repeaters

Whispering Pines Fire District received a grant that provided funds to install vehicle repeaters in five of their apparatus recently. The repeaters were installed by AZ Spectrum of Payson. WPFD Communications Officer Van Herrick and Training Officer Steve Stevens have been training all of our Firefighters on the use of these very essential repeaters.

Our District is surrounded by mountains that make it very difficult to use hand-held radios within our district without the use of the vehicle repeaters. These repeaters enable the hand-held radios to transmit to dispatch and other government agencies through the more powerful vehicle radios.

Jenny Karch, wife of retired Whispering Pines Fire Chief Jim Karch, passed away recently. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jim and his family.
