The Rim Country Classic Car Club's show on Main Street is considered the "Best Little Car Show in Arizona." There will be vehicles from five surrounding states and from almost every town or city in Arizona.

These beautiful machines are worth between $10,000 to $100,000 each. Last year we had one car valued at $2.6 million.

The Rim Country Classic Car Club's 2005 Cruise-In and Charity Car Show raised $14,000 that was donated to local charities and scholarships.

This will be the car club's 13th Annual Charity Show, held on Main Street between Meadow Street and South McLane Road. The Car Show is a three-day event beginning Friday, April 28 with car registration and a Burger Burn at Rumsey Park for entrants, members and sponsors.

The show will be on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will include raffles, a 50-50 drawing, participant judging of vehicles, Oldies music, food vendors, a Poker Walk and items from 25 vendors.

The event is free to the public. At the end of the day, awards will be presented for 140 class and eight special. There will also be prizes for the Poker Walk and grand prizes.

We had 300 cars in last year's show and anticipate the same number this year. Registration is $30. These funds are set aside to be given away to local charities and to support the Payson High School Scholarship Fund.

They are neither used to finance the car show nor is any of the contributed money go outside the Rim Country Area. In 2005, the show yielded $14,000 for local area charities, and this year, 52 Rim Country sponsors are participating.

Sponsorships pay for trophies, T-shirts, dash plaques, food for the Burger Burn, breakfast and other car show-only expenses. Surplus sponsor money is put into the RCCAC Charity Fund and donated to local organizations.

The Rim Country Classic Auto Club is a nonprofit, incorporated organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of classic automobiles and street rods. We also participate in and support civic activities for the betterment of the community.

The car club has received overwhelming support from the town of Payson, Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Main Street Committee.

It is estimated that the show generates close to $100,000 for Payson businesses during the three-day event. For additional information, call Car Show Chairman Larry Bertram at (928) 472-7769 or Sponsorship Chairman Carl Tower at (928) 476-5727.
