The spring cleaning bug has hit Tonto Village with full force. Not only was there a huge yard sale this past weekend, but also a huge cleaning effort on lot #151 by the Tonto Village volunteer firemen.
With the cooperation and support of local funding to the fire district, clean up of the Willis/Reed family property was underway. Nick and Gayle Fitch organized the cleanup and Jeff Shaw manned the backhoe for several hours on Friday afternoon.
Since a mobile home was demolished, a large amount of debris was handled by a backhoe and put into two 40-yard dumpsters. The members of the Lewison family lent a hand all weekend, raking and clearing brush.
Special thank yous to firefighters Darren Hopley, Ollie, Nate, Mo, Cedric, Chamberlain and Chicago. Your help was very much appreciated.
Condolences to Reed family
The Reed family suffered the loss of Wade Reed a few months ago. Wade was killed in an ATV accident on the Control Road.
Wade's family gathered Saturday for a memorial ATV procession to Preacher Canyon to spread his ashes in the mountains he so loved.
Twenty-six quads, a jeep and a pickup were part of the procession.
Wade's brother, Tim; Wade's mother, Joan; and nephew, Kelly, extended much gratitude on Saturday for the efforts extended to fireproof and beautify their family property.
Thompson Draw II
The Homeowners Association was also spring cleaning their properties this past weekend. They borrowed the chipper/ shredder from the Tonto Village Fire District and made short work of the brush and debris around the perimeter of the residents' properties.
