Nancy Little is heating up the Payson Women's Golf Association nine-hole group tournament trail. In a month opening tournament held July 6 at Payson Golf Course, Little swung her way to the A flight championship and also won closest to the pin honors on No. 14 where her tee shot was just 7 feet, 8 inches shy of an ace.
In a July 27 tournament, she again pocketed closest to the pin prize money.
This time the near-ace was on No. 5 where her tee shot rolled to within 15 feet, 3 inches of the flag.
At the month ending awards ceremony, Little was also acknowledged as one of only two Lady Niners who carded birdies during July. The other was Carol Omoto.
In the July 6 tournament, which was scored "best six holes, half handicap," Linda Teasley won B flight honors and Julia Lynch took the C flight crown.
In a July 13 low net formatted shootout, Isabella Sockrider won A flight, Teasley took B flight and Norma Fallers swung to the C flight title.
Sockrider again emerged victorious is a fewest putts tournament played July 27. Her 13 putts was a low for the fray. With 14 putts, Karen Peterson was second. Ann Adams finished third with 18 putts.
At the month ending awards ceremony, Peterson was honored for scoring an eagle and Ann Alchuler for a chip-in.
