Rodeo Reunion Features Music, Trick Roping, Reconnection


The Second Annual Payson Rodeo Reunion will be held Saturday, Aug. 19 at the Recreation Center on the Tonto Apache Reservation. The party will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Professional cowboys and cowgirls will be on hand to sign the "Payson Rodeo 101" book written by local authors Jayne Peace Pyle and Jinx Pyle. CDs of last year's Rodeo Reunion will be for sale, along with the "Rodeo 101" book.

E.C. Conway of Greenback will be the special guest of honor this year.

Nancy Sheppard will do trick roping. This will be her first performance in Payson since 1948, when she was 18 years old. Six-time Women's Professional Bull Rider, Tammy Kelly, will be on hand to sign autographs.

Several Payson High School graduating classes are also meeting at this reunion, sponsored by Git A Rope Art and Antique Corral, Pepsi and the PHS Class of 1963.
