Floyd V. Auckly, 79, died in Payson on Aug. 2, 2006.

He worked 37 years as a jet aircraft mechanic for Civil Service at Naval Air Facility, Luke Air Force Base, and Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. He retired from Williams Air Force Base.

Mr. Auckly was a member of St. Agnes Parish in Phoenix until retiring to Payson, where he became a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. His favorite hobbies were car racing, hunting, deep sea fishing, and in later life he became an artist.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary C. Hentz Auckly and older brother, Clarence (Marian) Auckly; brothers-in law, Clarence (Betty) Hentz, and George (Betty) Hentz; a sister-in-law, Betty Hentz (Patrick) Flynn; nieces and nephews, great-nephews and nieces, and great-great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Walter and Mary E. Auckly, and sister, Gladys Reed.

There will be a memorial service at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, at St. Philip's Catholic Church in Payson.
