Women Golfers Net Low To Take Tournament


Karen Peterson ran away with a Payson Women's Golf Association "Point-Net" formatted tournament by carding 13 tallies in the A flight competition.

Lois Judd was runner-up with nine points.

Longtime PWGA member Joyce Goff explained the tournament scoring as players receiving "minus one point for a net bogey or worse, zero points for a net par, two for a bogie, five for an eagle and eight for a double eagle."

In the B flight competition, Judy Neal was able to score nine points to take home the gold. With seven points, Jan Burns was second and Goff took third earning five points.

Joyce Karnes pocketed closest to the pin prize money on No. 5 where she came up 11 feet, 3 inches shy of an ace.

Lois Judd won on No. 17 with an effort of 24 feet.
