The Gila County Sheriff's Office, under the Community Notification on Sex Offenders Law, is notifying residents that Jeffrey Michael Johnson has indicated he will be living in East Verde Park.
Johnson, 49, has been convicted of a sex offense that allows for community notification. He is not wanted by the GCSO or any other agency at this time.
The notification is not intended to increase fear, but to inform the community.
Any abuse, intimidation. threatening or harassment of Johnson will not be tolerated.
On July 15, 1983, Johnson was arrested in Tucson for two counts of sexual conduct with a minor -- two 5-year-old female victims.
On Nov. 15, 1983, Johnson pleaded no contest and was sentenced to five years of probation.
He registered as a sex offender with the Tucson Police Department.
In 1995, Johnson was arrested by the Marana Police Department for child molestation and was acquitted in trial.
It was determined he was not properly registered in Marana, and he was arrested for failure to change address as a sex offender.
His probation was extended until 2002.
