The Payson Longhorns defeated the Parker Broncos 29-6 during Friday night's varsity football season opener.
The nonregion outing against the Broncos was held at Longhorn stadium in Payson.
The coaching staff of the sophomore-laden Horns hoped to keep mistakes to a minimum and force the Broncos into the typical opening game errors.
While the Longhorns left the field with a 29-6 victory and many exciting plays, there were numerous mistakes -- some 16 or more penalties for the Longhorns to discuss when they review the film replays.
But all in all, new Payson head coach Josh Anderson -- along with a stadium of excited Longhorn fans -- seemed very happy with the team's performance as they kick off the season with a 1-0 record.
