On Sunday, Aug. 13, we had the most successful Bowl for Kids Sake event yet with over $28,000 raised. The amount of generosity that came from the people of Rim Country is truly amazing.
I would like to thank first and foremost, the 400 individual bowlers who went out into the community to help raise money for their bowling teams. The hard work they put in will have a positive effect on the lives of "bigs" and "littles" here in our community.
I want to thank our corporate sponsors: Wicks Auto Service, Wal-Mart, Waste Management, Mazatzal Casino, Lumbermens, ERA Young Realty, Amon Builders, Roy Haught Excavating and Payson Concrete.
Also, our Board Members: Amy Hill, DJ Craig, Bobbie Davis, Jake Sopeland and Ann Prow. Amy was our Event Chair and her hard work and dedication made the event a success. I'd also like to thank the many volunteers that helped out throughout the event. The day wouldn't have gone so smoothly without the help and support of the folks at Rim Country Lanes.
Our fifth annual event included something new with bowling pins that were re-created into works of art and auctioned off. A huge thank you to the artists and the Payson Art League who spent countless hours transforming ordinary bowling pins into true works of art. The average cost to begin and maintain a match between a "big" and a "little" is $1,000.
A great deal of time and dedication goes into the "behind the scenes" aspects of matching the right "big" with the right "little."
The generosity displayed at our annual event will pay huge dividends to the futures of children in our community.
Ross Hage, Big Brothers Big Sisters board president, Payson
