The fourth-grade classes at Payson Elementary School and their families, along with teachers Carol-Lyn Ryden and Roger Rohrbach, rolled up their sleeves and gave Panther Park, the school's environmental study site, a good cleaning.
"We had about 80 people helping," Rohrbach said.
Assisting the students were PES Principal Will Dunman, his wife, Lisa; Laurie Lindell, school nurse; Allen Lyles, PES maintenance; and Sally Rohrbach.
Businesses have also assisted the project over the years, including Roy Haught Excavating, which did much of the early preparation work on the site and brought in a load of soft sand for a flagstone walkway; Jeremy Hoff, who will be cutting and placing stones to complete the walk; and Wal-Mart and Cindy Bauer, with a $25 donation of fall mums.
Principal Dunman fixed hamburgers and hot dogs to go along with potluck dishes brought to keep up everyone's strength during the Aug. 22 work day.
