Q: How much do the lights and decorations on Main Street and the two main highways cost the Town of Payson?
A: The decorations on Main Street were bought years ago according to Payson Town Manager Fred Carpenter.
The new decorations on highways 87 and 260 were purchased by the town in conjunction with the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce.
The lights cost around $40,000 and were purchased with the town's bed tax money. Bed (hotel) tax money is to be used for promotional activity.
The highway decorations will last 10 or more years.
Next year the town plans to put more up more decorations on poles that were not decorated this year and also around Green Valley Park.
