It's only a week into what feels like winter, and you're probably already tired of wearing a jacket.
This weekend, warm up a little by heading south toward Phoenix for the Boulder Canyon trail. The trail is in the Superstition Wilderness, near Mesa.
This hike follows a graveyard of stones -- piled and scattered along what is initially a wide open trail.
As most descriptions of the hike almost apologetically explain, this hike is an exercise in seeing unobvious beauty.
To get there, take US 60 to exit 196. Head north up on Idaho Road one mile to AZ 88. Drive 15 miles. Turn left at Canyon Lake Marina.
