Hunter Falls From Tree Stand, Airlifted

The Gila County Sheriff's Office reported in a Dec. 13 press release that a hunter had to be airlifted to Phoenix following a fall from a blind in the trees.

The GCSO, Tonto Village Fire Department Lifestar Ambulance and Native Air Helicopter all responded to the report of the fall that had occurred sometime during the night of Dec. 12-13.

The man, who is from the Phoenix area, reportedly crawled to his vehicle and drove to the entrance to Tonto Village and waiting until someone drove by to help him.

The GCSO received the 9-1-1 call on the incident at 7:16 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13.

The hunter, whose identity is not being released, suffered a broken leg and injured back and was flown by helicopter to a Phoenix hospital.
