Recreation Roundup

Youth basketball registration begins Dec. 26

This is a great opportunity for both boys and girls to learn the game of basketball in a low-stress, fun instructional atmosphere. Registration is from Dec. 26 to Jan. 19. Participation fee is $20 per child and includes a basketball jersey and end-of-the-season pizza party. Head coaches' children play for free, so volunteer to coach!

Games begin in February and will be played during the week and some Saturdays at the Rim Country Middle School.

Those who register after the deadline for their age group will be placed on a team only if space permits.

Call 474-5242 ext. 7 for more information.

Kindermusik set to begin in January

Kindermusik incorporates the most current research on early childhood development. In a Kindermusik class, licensed educators lead a group of parents and their children through joyful activities, using music and movement. Parents learn more about their child's unique developmental process, and the shared learning experience creates a unique bond as the child associates learning with fun and musical play.

Join us for our inaugural offering of the following Kindermusik Classes, in cooperation with Gila Community College, beginning in January 2007:

  • Our Time for 1.5 to 3 year olds, Monday 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., Jan. 22 to May 21, 2007.
  • Sign & Sing for 6 months to 3 years old, Monday noon to 12:45 p.m., Jan. 22 to Feb. 26, 2007.
  • Family Time for families with children newborn and up, Monday noon to 12:45 p.m., March 5 to May 21, 2007.

Register at the Parks and Recreation Department by the end of today, Friday, for Our Time and Sign & Sing, and by Feb. 2 for Family Time. The cost is $100/child for Our Time, $35/child for Sign & Sing and $65/child for Family Time.

For more information, please call Mary McMullen at 474-5242 ext. 358 or stop by the Parks and Recreation Office.
