Mary Alyson Gibson died Feb. 7, 2006 in Flagstaff, AZ. She was born March 12, 1923, in London, England, to Margaret and Sidney Moir.
She served in the Royal Air Force during World War II.
She came to the United States aboard the Queen Mary in 1955. She retired in 1985 from the U.S. Post Office as Postmaster in Alpine, Calif.
She moved to Payson in 1985, and was active in the Northern Gila Republican Women's Club and had been active in various other service organizations.
She was an outspoken advocate for public transportation for citizens of all ages in the Payson area.
She is survived by her children, Lesly, Roger and Tracy; grandchildren, Neal, Rachel and Joseph; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Trey, Dodge, Lauren and Ivy; sister, Margaret; and brother, John.
She will be remembered for her extraordinary courage, sense of humor and love of life in the midst of many physical challenges. A memorial service will be held upon arrival of family from England.
Any donations in honor of Mary Gibson are requested to be offered to the Payson Senior Center, which has done much to add to the quality of Mary's life and that of many other senior citizens in the community.
