College Offering Real Estate Classes

All real estate sales professionals must complete 24 hours of continuing education in their field each year.

Gila Community College now offers the required programs, so Rim Country real estate salespeople and their brokers no longer need to travel to the Valley to complete the training.

"This series of training programs will be offered each semester at the Payson campus," said Harry Swanson, dean of the Payson campus.

The current series of classes is held every Saturday in January, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in room 405/406.

State-certified Arizona Real Estate Instructor Tony Alfano is the teacher. The cost of each three-hour course is $25.

Courses remaining in the current series include:

Jan. 14: Basic exchange and advanced exchange -- tax. They will include the new tax laws and investment formulas.

Jan. 21: Disclosure

Jan. 28: Contracts and beneficiary deeds.

"Because several realtors missed the first two programs needed for their annual recertification, we are planning to re-offer both Broker Audit & Commissioners Rules and Fair Housing sometime in February," Swanson said. "Watch for updates on the ‘catch-up' schedule."
