William B. Moore, 82 of Strawberry, Ariz., died Friday, Jan. 6 in Mesa, Ariz. following a brief battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite.

Mr. Moore is survived by his daughter, Shirley; son, William; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was born in Cassville, N.J., and moved to Phoenix in 1962. He retired to Strawberry in 1992 after many years of work as a heavy equipment operator. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars having served in the Army in World War II, 224th BM Medical Company. He was also a member of Order of the Purple Heart, Disabled American Veterans, Payson American Legion, Elks 2088, and a charter member of the Strawberry Elite Club. He belonged to the International Union of Operator Engineers Local 428.

Services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12 at Veterans National Cemetery in Phoenix. Donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 East Flower St., Phoenix, Ariz.
