Citizens can register through 5 p.m. Feb. 13 to vote in the primary election.
"We have registration forms here (at Payson Town Hall) and at the (Payson) library," Town Clerk Silvia Smith said. "They can also pick them up at the satellite Gila County Recorder's Office behind the Sheriff's Office, and that's probably their best bet, because they do have to submit identification to comply with Proposition 200. Otherwise, they have to send them out letters, and if it's near the deadline they won't be registered until the next (election)."
Registration forms must be mailed in or dropped off at the satellite recorder's office. For more information, call the recorder's office at (928) 474-7139 or (800) 304-4452.
Both the Payson and Diamond Star elections are March 14. Mail-in ballots will be mailed out Feb. 9, with a second mailing Feb. 27, which will include newly registered voters.
Write-in candidates must file nomination papers with the respective town clerks 40 days prior to the election.
