Pony Express To Stop In Christopher Creek Feb. 1

A grant steering committee meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21 at Christopher Creek Fire Hall. The topic will be fuel reduction, and everyone is welcome to attend.

Don't forget the Hunter Creek Homeowners Association will meet at 1 p.m. this Saturday, Jan. 21, at the fire hall. The group has several openings on the board, as well as an opening on the architectural committee. All members are asked to attend and cast their vote.

The Hashknife Pony Express riders will be making their 48th ride from Holbrook down to Payson Wednesday, Feb. 1, and they will be exchanging mailbags in front of Creekside Restaurant. If you want to see this exciting event and meet some of the riders, make plans to come out to Christopher Creek around lunchtime. Tall Pines market has commemorative mailers for $1, and Pony Express posters for $10. Come out and have the riders autograph your poster, and see this historical ride.

Got time on your hands? Make a New Year's resolution that's sure to make a difference. Whispering Hope Ranch on Colcord Road in Christopher Creek needs volunteers. There are various opportunities to serve. Their camps and retreats are for children and adults with both physical and developmental disabilities. This is a life-changing opportunity to share your time and see joy in the many hearts you touch. Go out and meet these wonderful people and the friendly animals at Whispering Hope Ranch. If you have time to give, it would be greatly appreciated and well spent. To learn more about the ranch, visit their Web site at www.whisperinghoperanch.org or give them a call at (928) 478-0339.

The annual Ladies' Pajama Party is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 24. Ladies, start shopping for those outrageous PJs.

It has been real quiet in the community. The only talk is about when and if we are going to see more moisture. Living in this beautiful country makes all of us worry when we don't get any measurable snow or rain, and it seems like winter is almost over. I cannot stress enough how we all need to be careful when outside with any kind of fire (campfire, smoking materials, etc.).

If you have news to submit for my column, you will need to get it to me by the Monday before it is printed. I need to update my birthday and anniversary list. If you want to be included, give me a call at (928) 478-4519, or e-mail me at marazza@cybertrails.com.
