Burglaries Investigation Continues

Nearly three months after burglars burrowed through five stores and pocketed thousands of dollars worth of jewelry, the Payson Police Department's investigation continues.

"We've had several more leads," Payson Police Commander Don Engler said. "We haven't developed anything into a firm lead at this point."

Thieves tunneled through five shops -- Corral West, the Smoke Shop, Payson Jewelers, Quik Cash and Curves -- along with several vacant spaces, in the late evening of Oct. 25.

Although no positive identifications have been made, surveillance cameras caught the suspects on tape.

Engler urged anyone having information about this crime to contact the police department at: (928) 474-5177.

In the absence of a formal reward, Engler said a whistleblower could be compensated.

"If a person provided us information that led to the arrest and conviction, we'd most likely have some funds available," Engler said.
